Shivgad Fort
Shivgad Fort is located Ghonsari, Phondaghat 89 Km from Kolhapur District. Phondaghat is route for Sindhudurg District from Kolhapur. Shivgad fort is surrounded by thick forest and hill shoes. The fort can also be trekked from base village Gadgesakhal which is below of Phondaghat.
History of Shivgad Fort
Dajipur Sanctuary is famous for the villagers on the border of Kolhapur and Sindhudurg District. The Shivgad Fort is not known in this sanctuary. Malvan, Abahara etc., The good coming from the harbor to the bottom were many ferries going to the market on the Sahyadri Plateau. The Shiva Gad was constructed to keep an eye on the Fonda Ghat from such a fenced area.
How to go There:
Take National Highway NH-17 towards to Goa State from Kankavli and Sawantwadi Road from Kolhapur City and it's near by Vaibhavwadi city approximately 35 km.
