History of Rangangad Fort

Rangangad Fort is built by Shilahar II King Bhoj's period in 1175 - 1212. Is shows that this fort is more than 800 years ago. Panhala was the capital of Shilhar. King Bhoj Built 15 forts in his career of them, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj won the Rangangad and joined Swaraj. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killed Afzal Khan on Pratapgad on 10 November 1659. After 18 days in 28 November 1659 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj won the Panhala Fort. Later, he won the Rangangad Fort alog with Pavangad, Vasantgad and Vishalgad. In 1695 Rajaram Maharaj was crowned on the Rangangad. The British captured this fort on 9 December 1844.
