Sindhudurg is the Jaldurga built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian sea near Malvan in Sindhudurg District of Maharashtra. It started its construction on 25th November 1664. This fort was very important in the strength of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Fort area is spread over 48 acres of Kurte Island. The Length of wall is approximately 3 Kilometers. The number of bastions is 52 and 45. On this fort there are 3 fresh water wells of "Shivkalin". Theri names are "Milk Vihir", "Sugar Vihir", "Dahi Vihir". the only Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra is the temple of Lord Shiva in this fort. It was established by Rajaram Maharaj. 

Recognizing that the construction of the dam is very important to carry out the invasion of enemy forces on the sea route along with "Bhuikot" and "Dongri forts", Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built sea forts. Seaside inspection followed by searching for good, strong and safe places. In 1664, Kurta, a nearby Kala, near Malvan was brought to the rocks for some the forts. The foundation of the banks of the forts was laid by Maharaj. This place is known as Morya's stone today's date. Lord Ganesh worshiped a rock on one stone, on the one side of the moon, on the other sides Chandra chanted the place. It is said that one crore rupees were spent to build the fort. It took 3 years to build.

Sindhudurg which has received historic beauty, is situated on the curtain rock which has been standing for 3 centuries, it is about half a mile from the rocks of "Malwa". The area occupied by the sea on this rock is about 48 acres. Their coast is 2 miles. The height of the fort is 30 feet and the width is 12 feet. There are 22 bastions all around the fort. There is a sharp rock around the tower. The ocean has spread to the west and to the south. On the west side and south side 500 km of rugs have been planted and 80 thousand rupees have been spent for the construction of this block.
